What is allowed in <pre> and <post> for tars in a Lab Manager profile?

Message In the Sample Linux Profile on [1] I see:

            <tars path="package/local/​EL3/cubit/">
                <pre/>
                <post/>
                <tar compressed="compress" dest="/">
                    <name>craps.ta​r.Z</name>
                    <pre/>
                    <post/>
                </tar>
            </tars>

What is allowed in the <pre> and <post> elements? Is it like <script> where you can include arbitrary commands?
